Unknown Part

What part is this? My truck is running missing and smelling like fuel. I looked under the hood in the dark and this part is arcing. I assume it is some kind of coil pack, but not sure. It goes straight to the distributor cap.

The arc is where the blue paint is.

If I can see orange arcing at night does this mean it needs to be replaced or is it my distibutor cap & rotor.

Re: Unknown Part

That depends on where it's arcing, If it's arcing near the wire going in it, then you need a coil wire. However, if it arc's from the coil itself, it may be cracked and will need to be replaced... Let us know how you make out with it.

Re: Unknown Part

It is arcing from the coil itself. I removed the wire and it is white and discolored. Cap[ and Rotor were changed about three months ago.

Re: Unknown Part

I replaced the ignition coil which corrected the orange arc, but it was still running rough. I changed the map sensor and all plugs & wires today. Now it runs like a new truck except a vaccuum leak I haven't tracked down yet.

A/C switches to defrost at high rpm's. After shifting and back to normal rpm range A/C works fine. When on Maximum A/C 85% of air blows on dash no matter what rpm.
