Reset Factory Keyless Code

Is there a way to reset a keyless pad to the factory code without sending it to the dealer. I have the original code from the trunk but it does not work.

Are you certain the keypad works? Are your keyless remotes working too?

I'm no expert above 1998 without looking in the manual, but from reading pervious posts on the subject, it appears that the module codes up through 2004 can't be changed programatically. I don't see any information above 2004 anywhere.

note: the modules permanent codes can be changed, but it takes some soldering skills working inside the module.

The keyless control module in both your lincolns is inside the drivers door, just below the window master control panel. The door panels must be removed first to get at the module. The permanent code, presumably the same one you found on the trunk support arm, and in your factory literature, is also on a sticker on the outside of the module.

There have been several reports of the module going bad (2000 to 2004), replacing the module restores the whole system to normal.

Keyless remote control programming:

1998 + ?
Cycle Ignition from OFF to RUN 4 times within 3 seconds, ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st remote transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter ( up to 4 transmitters total possible ). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Re: Reset Factory Keyless Code

Inside the drivers door there is a box that controls the door locks via remote and the keypad. My box in my Mark VIII just unplugged. Possibly the actual numbers are messed up instead of the computer. Maybe the pad just needs to be replaced. Like maybe 1 or 5 don't work at all. You can test this at night. hit a button on the keypad and the interior lights are supposed to come on. try each button. You have to wait for the lights to go back out each time of course. If one does not make the lights come on then it is defective.
