P0101 MAF Sensor

I was getting this trouble code on my 99 Aurora. I went to the auto parts store to get a new MAF sensor and the guy at the parts store suggested trying to get clean it first. I was hesitant b/c it's only a 109 part, which is cheap for these cars, but I went home and successfully cleaned my MAF sensor and haven't had any trouble in 2 weeks. This can be easily done by removing the tubes for the air filter and accessing the MAF sensor. There are 3 bolts that hold the sensor on. I used electrical contact cleaner and a rag to clean the contacts as well as the screen across the front of the MAF sensor, which was quite dirty.

I love the forum and figured I would spread the knowledge.

Good luck!

Re: P0101 MAF Sensor

Thank you for the info.
Should be noted as well that the '95 doesn't have the same setup as later models, no MAF. In fact I have no idea how it gets the flow info?

Re: P0101 MAF Sensor

95's use the MAP sensor to determine engine load (based on vacuum) and calculate the amount of air that is going into the car.

Sorry but please check the date and do not resurrect old threads. This thread has been closed. The guidelines are below or just start a new thread concerning your issue.

POSTING IN CLOSED OR OUTDATED THREADS:
If a thread has been closed, there is probably a logical reason for it. If you feel that the reason(s) for closure of the original thread are unjustified or wish further clarification feel free to contact any member of the moderating team. However, do not start a new thread about another closed thread.

Please avoid posting or voting in outdated threads. It merely clutters up the message board and makes it more difficult for fellow members to sort through the vast amount of information contained on the boards. If you have new and important information to add regarding a past discussion, feel free to start a new thread and if need be, add a link to the original thread.
