what is this?

i found it under my dash beside my truck pop and im not sure what it is.

Auxillary wiring harness for a trailer hitch? That's my best guess.

could it be some sort of left over remnants of a remote starter installed? Thats what it looks like to me.

...you know what? that switch thats in the OFF position may be why my remote starter is not working. hold on im going to go check.

oh my god. it worked. i cant belive i took out all that wireing and checked all those connections when the solution was that once tiny switch. well thank you tblake. you saved me a lot of cold winter days outside trying to start my car.

good, glad it worked. Now you have to take all those relay contacts with electrical take, and secure all the wiring up with zip ties, and be careful to hide everything, or your cars' a sitting duck for a thief. Glad i could be of help to you. And FYI, that switch is probably for service mode, which installers are required to install in which deactivates the remote start if service work needs to be done to the vehicle in case of any mishap.

ya i guess that would suck doing work on the fan belt and some jerk decides to remote start the car.

Naw, its just a backup incase the mercury switch under the hood doesnt work. Open our hood and try to start it. Betcha the parking lights flash but nothing happenes. Or start it, and then open the hood. Bet is shuts off. Its mainly for the dumbasses that that dont take the extra step of unhooking the battery if they are going to be working on anything major.
