Expiriences with HLJ

Hy there mates

Im been wondering about buying some kit from hlj , but i want to know about your expirience about buying from hlj and pirces

Im living in estonia , near finland , how about postage , is someone near here ordered something from there ?

they said that kit what should cost about €21 is going around €25 , and they added that price might be smaller or bigger , i understand that it depends on where do you live....

so tell me about overall expirience dealing with hlj , are the pirces actually bigger than shown in their web page or smaller , do they pack well , how are the shipping times etc.

Sry about my english too , hope you understand

Thanks for all information !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Expiriences with HLJ

Hello Estonia: land of Markko Martin and a really cool looking flag!
HLJ is a very reputable webshop. Their service is top notch, they pack well, and do not play games with pricing by inflating shipping or handling fees, etc.
You are e-mailed an invoice before the item(s) are sent, and they provide you with shipping options for you to choose (EMS or SAL). Like many, I have dealt with them for years and have never had a problem. My only very minor point would concern new releases: often one is able to preorder months in advance, but it my take a bit for the item to ship when it becomes available. This, occurs, I imagine, because one must wait 'in cue' while other orders are filled. I have found that Rainbow 10, while not having such an 'advanced' web site, actually is quicker to ship new releases out (but we are talking a a matter of a few days at most). Honestly, a very minor point.

Re: Expiriences with HLJ

Hi Ramon,

I'm living in Italy and I'm dealing with HLJ since 7 years. I can only say they're at the top of the on-line-shopping business. Transparency and reliabilty are their main characteristics. Fair prices and shipping rates (according to the destination), and perfectly packaged items, never had a damage over the mentioned period.
Lately, the delivery times increased, but I guess it depends on the local customs.

They are slow to get items shipped; I'd say it's usually a week now if I order something in-stock before I get a shipping notice. Order, wait 2-3 days for them to do anything, 3-4 days in payment processing, and then ship out. Then it takes 12-17 days to get here.

But they are reliable and great service. You never know how fast you'll get an order with anyone, depending on when you place an order.

Same for me lately, I prefer RainbowTen. They are way faster and have a great service, you usually get an answer within 1 day. And your order leaves really soon after they recieved your payment!

Same here.

I have yet to deal with Rainbow 10, but may do so soon. Another option is http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ (aka, hobbysearch). Their prices are comparable to hlj and I think they ship "slightly" faster.

Re: Expiriences with HLJ

I have had nothing but good experience with HLJ. The shipping was kind of slow, but prices and service were pretty good. Packaging was excellent too.

Re: Expiriences with HLJ

I changed my mind , rainbow ten seems to be good
Same prices as hlj but faster shipping as you say , but only negative bit is that Rainbowten doest have kit pictures on page so i have to search pics from hlj but no problem , i sent email and asked about prices

Thanks everyone , i hope it solves other people problems too who cant decide where to buy their kits and what is best

Re: Expiriences with HLJ

I'm in Australia and for me, HLJ is fast. Ordering 'in-stock' items usually takes 8-10 days to arrive. Couple of days to process the order and a week in the mail if using SAL shipping. Using EMS cuts delivery down to a couple of days after its been shipped. Packaging is excellent and I've never received anything damaged (touch wood).

I'll have to give them a try, sounds like a deal! How are the prices next to HLJ?

I receive my stuff a little slower. I live in Sydney but it takes about 15 days to ship plus a few days for the order to be confirmed.

But that said, they have always delivered the goods. Everything is in great condition and the price is right. Quite frankly I'm willing to wait a couple more days for service thats a little cheaper. Only praise from me.

Re: Expiriences with HLJ

I'd recommend HLJ 100%.I've never had any problems in the 2+yrs I've shopped with them.Always well packed and above all I know I can trust them to deliver my order.
I'd also recommend Mediamix Hobby and 1999 Hobby Search. Both very reliable and carry an extensive range of products.www.hiroboy.com is also a shop I am using at the moment. His service and communication is the best in the buisiness in my opinion and more products are added almost daily. He certainly gets the thumbs up from me.

I don't think there's a big difference. I haven't found something that was way cheaper or more expensive. But for example the current price for the SLR from Tamiya is 3600Yen at R10 (preorder) and 4000Yen at HLJ. I usually compare the prices from my "favorite" shops and place the order where I get the best deal (very important, compare the shipping costs)

The webshop from R10 isn't really great (you know just the text is...) but when you know what you want then it's ok. You just have to copy the complete item description, write them a mail and wait till it's arrives
