Whats going on with my Car?

I have a 2000 Mazda 626 and late last night I went to help give a friend a jump. When I arrived everything was great. I gave my friend his jump and he took off. After coiling up the jumper cables, I was ready to leave but the car was not. I started the car and swtiched the gear shifter to drive and nothing happened. I turned the car off and then back on and again nothing happened. Can someone please help me. This is crazy. Nothing seemed worng moments before and now I am stuck in a rut. I checked the transmission fluid and that was coo. I have no clue. Please give me an idea of where i should look if anyone knows.

Re: Whats going on with my Car?

try disconnecting the battery ground cable for about 20 to 30 mins to reset the electronics.

Re: Whats going on with my Car?

I'm assuming you have this fixed by now.......so what was the problem?.......I was going to suggest the following and then realized that you had the problem in early August.

Highly improbable but having worked a bit on cars.....never say never. Check and make sure the shift lever didn't at some point become disconnected from the transmission.

Re: Whats going on with my Car?

It sounds like the positive wasn't taken off fast enough and it might have affected the ECM. Check the ECM fuse and module.

THE 0P (Heather) has not been active since that post in this forum, so there is a good chance this member will not see your reply. That is why it isn't a good idea to bring up threads older than 3 months from the date if the last response. You can start a new thread with your issue and maybe some other members can post solutions to help you.
