Egr Valve

Where is the location of the ERG Valve on a 99 Mits Eclipse. The Service engine light has been coming on. I took it to Autozone and the Dx Conputer said it was this valve. Really what i am wondering is can i take it off and clean it would that make it work or should I just but a new one thanks got the help Guy

Take a look at this. It shows you where and explains a little bit about it. I'm thinking its the solenoid and not the valve.

If its a non turbo its right on the head. Open the hood and find the airbox to your right. The EGR valve is between that and the engine. It hangs off on the side and the solenoid is right in front of that. I got tons of pics if you need.

If its a turbo, the EGR valve is on the cylinder 4 runner on the intake manifold. I dont know how accessable it is so you might have to pull shit out of the way. IMO, broken EGR shit is a perfect reason to strip that clusterfuck of emissions shit out.

Build on hold until I get a good paying job, either in school or once I get out. At that time a full tear down and complete rebuild should be in order.

yeah emissions suck. i drive my gst on the weekends and only put about 1200miles on it a year so i get no emissions when inspections come around
