Car running rough

Damn my car is running like hell.
Its missing badly specially at lower rpm, hesitates when accelerating and there is a noticeable different in power obviously. There are two things I’m thinking that could cause this, maybe the ignition leads or it’s the Mass air sensor. the car is also searching at idle. I say ignition leads because I saw one of them sparking at nigh time when I had a check under the hood.

What do you guys think????

I'm a little slow on some things but what is "Ignition Lead"? My car is running a little rough and you say that fixed it. I have changed the plugs and wires. Is this what your talking about? Thanks!

Re: Car running rough

I guess you may call them spark plug leads, I didn't have to change the spark plugs

Glad this fixed your problem. The other day my 01 S-10 would not start. Never had a problem with it. Got my scanner out and nothing came up. Checked the battery leads and the problem was a dirty positive lead. They always tell you to check the simple stuff first. All my years of driving car's this was the first time this was a problem.

Re: Car running rough

if u pop ur hood and look at ur engine, u will see 6 large black wires connected on the left side next to the plate that says mistubishi on top and ur engine type on the bottom (ie V6 DOHC 24V) in large white lettering. each wire connects to a spark plug in each cylinder and provides the electricity for the spark that ignites the gas in each cylinder. if one spark plug isn't firing correctly because of a bad wire, it would cause ur engine to run badly and have a terrible idle. by looking at the entirety of each wire u should be able to see if any are worn or broken and if they need to be replaced. i tried to send a picture for clarity but it wont go through for some reason. unfortunetly im not a car know it all so i can't tell u much more than that. anyone with more knowledge want to shed some more light?

Re: Car running rough

Wow i should really read all the of thread before posting. those are what ur spark plug wires are but if u replaced the spark plugs and wires then thats not the problem. the starter lead is the wire that goes to and from the starter in ur car but a bad starter lead wouldnt cause a bad idle and slow acceleration. u sure u replaced the spark plugs AND wires? cause if its not electrical ur probably getting into big bucks for repairs.

Re: Car running rough

Problem already fixed, it was one of my spark plug wire's or maybe even the spark plugs since I replaced both, I saw one of the leads sparking at night which lead me to the problem......

No the other thing that could cause this sort of problem would be the Mass.....

Re: Car running rough

i figured 92VR4red might have the same problem but not if he replaced the plugs and wires. wait so then if leads aren't the wires what are they?

Re: Car running rough

or it could be the The Mass Air Flow Sensor which converts the amount of air drawn into the engine and can cause thing like poor Idle and the obviouse performance!!!

Don't take my advise though, if things are looking bad get your car put on Mitsubishi's Diagnostic computer.

Re: Car running rough

where how do u do that? do dealers have them? cause i've been wondering about my oxygen sensor for a while. whenever i push in the clutch and i haven't let off the gas for at least a full second the rpms jump. also my engine is idling lower and lower when its cold, sometimes stalling and making me start it up again and hold the gas down for a couple seconds. lol idk how much worse it'll get before it gets better. then again if these things have nothing in common and neither of which have to do with the oxygen sensor it wouldnt surprize me in the least cause i hardly know anything beyond basics about cars.
