That seems to be DXC problem period. The Dakotas and Durangos had similar problems a couple of years ago.

I dunno. Other than replacing the axleshafts, trans, hubs, gears, exhaust, intake, cam, distributor, oil pump, windshield cowl strip, windshield, soft top, motor mounts, clutch, brakes, bearings, wheel cylinders, U-joints, master cylinder, shackles, lifters, valvesprings, timing chain, alternator, and water pump, I haven't had any trouble out of my ol' CJ-7.

Big picture here is Chrysler. Everything Chrysler Corp. touches turns to shit.

Uh, no. Jeeps were shit long before Chrysler. I have had a '77, 81 and '84 all with significant problems

Yeah. Jeeps are junk and I'm a glutton for punishment. If I had any sense I'd be driving a Toyota 4Runner or something.

if you do avoid the 90-97 4runner due to the head gasket recall (debacle) on the 3slow and early 3.4L's. oh and the 2nd and 3rd gen 4runners had sagging spring problems in the rear.
one last thing the rear diff seals fail premature on 3rd gen 4runners causing the differential to explode!
