Well, if it was daily driven since new in '93, it might very well have over a million miles on it. This proves that LT1's are bulletproof!

Re: The Unbreakable TA

I thought only 95s had optispark. If they had kept replacing the engine and tranny it could.

Re: The Unbreakable TA

Most opti's go 100K or so before you even have a issue and even then. All that is usually required is pulling the cap and rotor and a light cleaning, then they are good as new. Besides opti's usually will never become a problem at all til you have a water pump issue. I have heard plenty of LT1's gettin 300k + put on them. So they are pretty damn dependable.

All LT1's have Opti's. Just two different style opti's. Some early models got unvented units and later cars 95+ got vented units.

I wish the 95's were the only one with the optispark. I am praying that mine doesn't go out on me. I don't want to have to replace it. I don't know if it is orginal or not (because I bought the car used). Its like a sneeze that won't come all the way up.

Re: The Unbreakable TA

Are the 3.8's as reliable as the LT1's?

Re: The Unbreakable TA

i think the 3.8 is one of gm's best v6's. they are very reliable and i here they are bulit proof. I know they have some power for a v6 and don't get bad on gas.

The 3.8 liter is one of GM's best engines. You won't have very many problems with it. Apparently they take well to boost too, and superchargers are rather affordable for the car. It would be a great idea to get one for, ahem, insurance reasons over a V8.

Mind you if you are serious about hot rodding don't bother with the V6, cause you'll struggle to run anywhere near 11 sec. (Unless you drop in a Gran National motor).

Heck yeah. Those engines produce ridiculous amounts of torque. A stock GN engine has more torque then an LS1 from what i've read.
