95LHS, fuel pump?

I have a 95 LHS, it won't start. Happenned once. Then was okay a hour later. Then it happened three days later. Was okay next day.
Now it won't start. (luckily this all happenned in the driveway)

No check engine light, cranks, but wont start. not even a cough. All fuses okay. A small squirt of ether made it run a split second.

No whirring sound from fuel pump when key turned on.. Removed carpet of trunk, exposed pump. Still no sound from fuel pump at turn on.
Checked voltages at fuel pump connector. Got 12V for a second or two at key-turn on.

Before i spend $195 on a fuel pump, can anyone think of anything else it could be? and... is the fuel pump removable through the access cover or do i have to drop the fuel tank ?

Re: 95LHS, fuel pump?

The 12V for the few seconds when the key is turned on is normal, it turns the pump on for those few seconds to build pressure in the fuel systen for engine startup. If you have the voltage there at the connector but no sound then it is a good bet the fuel pump went south on you and needs replaced.

You can change the pump via the access panel you already have found in the trunk, dropping the tank is not necessary for the change. Be careful, the pump is spring loaded and will pop up when the band clamp is removed, if the tank has a fair amount of gasoline in it you might get some spillage from the pump from the plastic housing the pump motor is located in, also the fuel level sensor is attatched to the pump assembly so keep that in mind when removing.

Re: 95LHS, fuel pump?

Well, before buying a fuel pump, i displayed the codes.
Code 12, Battery disconnect to PCM during last 50 key starts.
Code 66, No CCD bus message, PCM did not receive messages from the CCD bus.

Would this be expected if the engine hasnt run ? Just wondering if it might be a module or wire problem. And where are the PCM and BCM modules on a LHS ?
