Keyless remote question....

on my montana i have the keyless remote that has the LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC buttons. The LOCK button started not working while the UNLOCK would work fine. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts which did no good. After a while neither the LOCK or UNLOCK work and i have switch batteries which didnt help. Is it just shot?

Re: Keyless remote question....

It sounds like the keyless remote is shot to me, i would pick up another one if you have changed batteries and cleaned the contacts. I don't think they are that expensive.

Re: Keyless remote question....

i did buy one of ebay which had the exact same numbers on the back of the remote but couldnt get it programmed. I would go thru the steps, and i would hear the confirmation beep for the original remote but during the programming of the newer remote i would not get a confirmation beep

Re: Keyless remote question....

Is this the procedure that you followed,
Keyless remote programming 1998-2004
Perform the following steps in order to program the transmitter:
1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
2. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse panel.
3. Close all of the doors.
4. Close the liftgate.
5. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to ACC.
6. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second.
7. Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters the BCM programming/diagnostic mode.

Important
After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming.

8. Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
9. Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.
10. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
11. Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel.

As long as the NUMBERS on the remote match, it should work.

I got a couple of remotes from eBay that are from a different model car, but the numbers match. It even has a button on it for a trunk release (which flashes my lights ). The lock & unlock work fine, and now that I have upgraded the BCM, the red horn button acts as a "panic button" (beeps continuously).

Take Care,
