WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Reissued '97 Revell kit, originally from the 70's I believe. Aston Martin DB4 Series II, the tooling of this kit was not the best. The chassis is in so many pieces it was hard to get it all to come together right. I have added detail to the engine bay trying to get it as accurate as possible with the reference photos I have. The body will be Tamiya Silver Leaf, the wheels are the Fuimi "wire wheels". I decided to tub out the rear end and alter all the suspension to fit the wheels as they are. I know that's unusual for an Aston Martin but oh well. Sorry for blurry pictures, should be done in the next couple weeks.

Beautiful car. Althou the pics are a bit blurry, it looks like you are doing great job on this. The engine detailing looks excellent. Looking forward to more of this.

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Wow this is amazing, i wish i could get hold of one. (Do they come up on ebay often?)
Keep going (by the way, are they briefcases in the back, and will they be visible?)
Cool, keep it up.

Damn! Such a great and rare model to be built - and you seem to be doing it really well but those pictures just kill it!

Borrow a camera - pleeeeaaaase

I'm looking forward to seeing (hopefully) more.

Great car, silver leaf's a good choice. You're doing a good job on it. What's that colour on the interior? I've been trying to find a flat red spray can for ages ...

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Great to see one of these being built! BTW, it's originally an old Aurora kit, dating from the early '60s & I'm pretty sure that the box art show in your pics is Aurora's. I have one of the late '80s / early '90s releases of this (& the Maserati 3500GT from the same series) in my to-build pile, so I will be following this with great interest

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Porschenut - I'm not too sure how often they come up on Ebay. Aston Martin's usually come with Aston signature luggage, and yes this model is fully open and everything will be visible.

KTem - The interior is Testor's flat red enamel shot out of the can, it took me forever to find it as well.

Sorry about the pictures they were took hastily and on the workbench, I have took some outside this morning with natural lighting.

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Nice, outdoor pics really helped!!

One thing i would suggest is to sand down the tire to get rid of the rib. It might be tooo late though?

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Everything looking tiptop so far. Are those the kits wheels? Look like fujimi or something similar. I remember seeing the other aston's boxart, and the wheels looked like something from benhur. Keep up the awsome progress!

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

Honestly, the Fujimi wheels don't work well under the DB4. The diameter is too large, and the profile of the tires is all wrong. Transplanting the wires and tires from a Gunze Sangyo sports car kit, a Tamiya Jaguar MkII, or one of the Aoshima MGB's would've been much more accurate.

Re: WIP-Revell Aston Martin DB4

I wasn't really going for accuracy with the wheels, just awesomeness.

Nice work, bro; very detailed. Those old Aston Martins are classy automobiles.

Haha hardly, if you view my public profile you can learn that I drive a 2001 Suzuki Swift. That is Techart's 997 in my signature, I believe my 79BHP rivals it's (just a ballpark figure) 500-600BHP.
