help with fuel? system?
Hello, I have a 1990 3.1 litreV6. The thing ran great for years. occasionally it would die while driving. Turn the key it would start right back up. then it stopped (starting back up).
I replaced the relay for the fuel pump, the inline filter, and now the fuel pump. For those of you who have done this.....what fun huh? dropping the whole back end out. anyway, it still will not start. I have been a mechanic years back, have no code pulling device. It does turn over ever so briefly with starting fluid. ANY IDEAS??? please help. I need to drive the car and I am at wits end. I feel like I may be missing something simple. (There is no fuel pump fuse as the book says but injector and all other fuses are good.)

Re: help with fuel? system?
do you hear the pump going on? if so then it can only be the injectors.. or a clog in the line? ecu broken? getting voltage to the injectors?

Re: help with fuel? system?
I want to thank everybody for their quick responses.
I went onto Google and searched 'firebird fuel problems', out of desperation, I came across a 1997 posting on some other forum which the guy was asking about nearly the same thing. The guy that replied to him had a mechanic do all sorts of stuff but no good. After finding out that the battery voltage went to the relay , and other places, the diagnostic hook up said 'no computer'. Long story short.there is a 20 amp fuse encased in a connector looking thing, attatched to the upper fender by the air cleaner. I took the fuse out, was all rusty, scraped it, and the inside of the connector, and started right up. If anybody wants a full copy of the wires and connections to check, it was quite lengthy, let me know, @ [email protected] or I'll get my son to show me how to put a direct link on a reply here.
