Hell Has Frozen Over

Jenson has finally done it, in what many are saying was the best F1 race of the year.

Great day for everyone that isn't in contention for the championship. Bridgestone brought the wrong tires, so Schumacher and Massa wern't at the top of their game. Alonso's car broke down for the first time in a long time. Kimi had an accident on lap 25. On a race where Schumacher failed to capitalize on Alonso's mistakes, Jenson Button, the man many had written off, had all the right cards. It was as if he were pre-destined to win today. Other big winners today were Pedro De La Rosa and Nick Heidfeld. Barrichello had a good race as well.

As I am writing this I am also reading that Kubica was disqualified for being underweight, thus Schumacher will get 1 point even though he didn't finish and Massa will get 2, putting Ferrari 7 points from Renault and Schumacher 10 points away from Alonso.

So Button comes from 14th place to score his first ever win. Hopefully we wont have to wait another 112 races to see another one.

I think I heard Jimster's scream from here when Button won.

Re: Hell Has Frozen Over

Not if it means anything but at the london motorshow, Button was more than optimistic about the car's performance. Usually, in interviews, he's always a little pessimistic and well, always pointing out the faults/failures of the car and tyre issues but he was unusually cheerful this time.

of course, him and honda having failed me at the start of the season, I now find it hard to believe that they've sorted out all of their problems.
Then again, 30+ secs ahead of P2 (or did i read the results wrong?) isn't something to scoff at (if you ignore the top drivers having been either retired or whatever...)

I'm going to be a good sport and say well done Button, it's hard to say anything other than it was a well earned victory.

Why on earth didn't Mikey just let little Nicky go by?

Re: Hell Has Frozen Over

I was more pissed and Mikey goofed around on Pedro De La Rosa for 3-4 laps making sure that De La Rosa was never going to catch up to Button

IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED! Anything is possible, in a Mclaren!

anyways, good for Button, finally shows my moron fellow Canadian (Villeneuve) that it wasn't just BAR Honda that was causing him to lose...Then again he probably should have realized it when he got a BMW engine again and couldn't get past 7th

Re: Hell Has Frozen Over

The race where Honda finally gets a win, is the race I miss because I was between houses Does anyone know if it's going to get a replay in the States (fat chance)? It surprises me that it was Button that made the win, and not Barrichello. I always thought Button was horrible at passing other cars, and thought that Barrichello would have a better shot at a win this year, especially after seeing his last few races. I also wonder how which it's got to do with the big "chassis stiffening" program Honda ran their cars through a couple races back. It seems that the Hondas have just been getting stronger all season, hopefully it will carry over into the next season, and they won't have to play catch up all over again.
