Mostly typical stuff for a FWD - drive at full lock in a parking lot and listen for shot CV joints. If it's an automatic, put the car in drive with your foot on the brake. Turn on the AC (assuming it works, otherwise this check is useless). Leave it at idle. If the car shakes a lot, it's probably motor mounts, and they are expensive.
Check the electric windows. If a motor goes out it's pricey.
The again, it depends what you're paying for the car. if it's appropriately priced, you can always get repairs done.
