Question Preludes With VTECs

What year did the Prelude Si's begin having the 2.2L VTEC? My buddy wants a '92 to '95 Prelude but wants one with VTEC, and (my memory is anywhere near good) I recall that the '92 Si's had the 2.3L N/A motor. If you are wondering why he wants a VTEC so badly, he wrecked his Civic Si VTEC.... Thanx, Jay

Yes, you are correct, there is no '92 VTEC. Honda started making VTEC's in '93. I know you said '92-'95, but FYI the OBDII cpu in the '96 models make them a bitch to modify unless you replace the cpu, bc it always resets. Good for people who don't modify cars, but avoid '96s otherwise. Also, IMO the interior of the '92 is better than interior of the '93-'96. The center console was relocated in '93-'96 models, and the e-brake looks like it was all but forgotten. If he has the funds, IMO tell your friend to get a '92 and transplant a VTEC engine.
