Exclamation 89 buick needs big help?

My 89 buick with a 3.3L engine. My car is stalling all the time. I just fixed it for the no start now it stalls. A code 22 comes up with the throddle position sensor or circuit low. I changed the sensor but it still has the code. I also erased the code and it came back. I can't find a split in the wire also. The car will sometimes stall right after you start it or it will sputter on takeoff then stall. I need some big help. I have no money for a technician to look at it. I can't even get it to leave the neighborhood. Please help me. If you need anymore info just ask me.

Re: 89 buick needs big help?

I dont remember if the 3.3 TPS is adjustable or not--some of these had slotted mounting holes in the sensor and would be able to rotate about 15 degrees. If you cant get anything out of the datastream, you would at least have to invest in a cheap multimeter and backprobe the sensor to check for the proper signals. You have a 5 volt feed (usually an OJ wire), a sensor ground (Black or Black with a white tracer), and a signal out.

with sensor unplugged, test between signal and ground for 5v
with sensor plugged in, backprobe bewteen ground and sig-out and slowly open the throttle and watch for an increase in voltage. I'm guessing between .7v closed throttle up to 4.5v WOT.

Re: 89 buick needs big help?

Ok. I fixed the TPS sensor and it still stalls on me. I also cut off the caytilicic convertor (sorry for the english) The engine runs but know it stalls when it is hot. It will also go the idle when I am cruising and if you hit the gas while it is doing that. Nothing will happen, It won't go up in rpms. The it will stall. Then after you restart it. It will run for a second then stall and keep doing this. Help please.

Check the fuel pressure.

fuel pressure is good. It's got a new fuel pump, filter, and injector. I found a hidden code. The park/neutral switch is mis adjustded. Would that cause it to stall.

Try cleaning the iac in the throttle body and clean the tb also. Prndl should not cause this problem.

The whole throddle body has been clean and all the sensors on it.

Not clear about your answer, you removed the iac and cleaned it, if so no more guessing, get a scanner on it and look at sensor /iac activity.

The park/netrual switch was bad. It kept saying it was in reverse in all the gears but netrual. It might be the cause of the stalling. The iac count was 150. I don't know if thats right or not. Please tell me what it should be.
