I have a 1997, 3.2L engine, 5 speed transmission and 4WD. Took it to the shop because it lights up the RwABS and the Brake dashboard light while driving. Sometimes they stay on for a few minutes, some time only seconds. According to the mechanic a faulty alternator is causing this (something about returning some voltage thru the dashboard lights). The alternator is charging just fine, but he say that it eventually will fail to charge too. Does this sound reasonable, or have somebody had this glitch already that could help?

Re: RwABS and Brake Dashboard Lights
ABS sensor. This happens to mine only if it's driven in very wet weather. One guy solved it with a new ABS controller. Search for that thread. I also have a thread here somewhere about the lights coming on intermittently.

I'm tempted to whip out the black electrical tape and cut some strips in the shape of those dashboard lights...............They haven't come back on, but it's only a matter of time before it happens again since I don't drive the vehicle very often.

Re: RwABS and Brake Dashboard Lights
Mine have had this problem for the last few years. Replaced the ABS/speed sensor about a month ago. Hasn't come on since.
