Can't dc the TV cable

I easily disconnected the throttle cable that the mechanic cut off at the junkyard, and I could see what it was attached too but even after lowering the transmission like a foot I can't remove it. How do I remove the TV cable from the intake? What's the procedure?

Also... I think the fluid lines are welded to the bolts so...why me, but I may cut them, just as the mechanic did and reattach them with a pressure fitting when I get the new tranny in. Probably will be a lot easier.

Re: Can't dc the TV cable

I hate it when the nuts get stuck.
An actual line wrench is a good thing to have if you don't have one. vice-grips tend to chew things up, so don't use one unless you have to. I have gone as far as heating the fittings w/a small cutting torch to berak them loose.
If you have a long extension you can use it like a big punch. Hit the extension w/a hammer to smack the fitting and see if it comes loose w/a line wrench.
Don't cut the tubes, I never have cared for the compression fittings. No use risking a blown cooler line.

One more thought. When the old tranny is out of the way. Squirt 2 cans of cooler flush through the system. You'll be surprised of all the trash that comes out.

Re: Can't dc the TV cable

I did it, while I was trying to figure out how to remove the throttle body, I snapped the TV cable off the TB and it was loose, but I still couldn't get it out from the mounting bracket. So the I remembered something, the little plastic piece comes loose when the wire is loose inside the cable, and bingo it popped out from the trans case.

I'm trying to find a line wrench, or some kind of offset wrench to use because there's not enough clearance between the trans and the floor pan to get the leverage we need.
