How do I remove interior trim in a '96 Regal
I've got a '96 Regal that has various pieces of interior trim work that I'd like to replace. The first being the center console with the cup holders. Trim work is easy to remove IF you know where the plastic "lips" are at. If not, you break them off and the piece can never be reinstalled to stay or look right. Can anyone offer help or direct me to information that I can print on various interior components? Additionally, is there a reasonable source for these interior pieces without having to go back to the dealership?
Thanks for the help! Bob Last edited by bob259; 08-07-2006 at 09:47 PM. |

Re: How do I remove interior trim in a '96 Regal
Welcome to AF.
What type info are you looking for? BTW - I've had good luck at the local salvage yard(s) on interior trim and on EBay.

Re: How to remove interior trim in a '96 Regal
For example, I want to replace the top of the center console because the cup holder lids are broken and the previous owner left a burn mark. I can find and release the plasitic clips or 'J's under the arm rest but don't know where the other clips or 'J's are at. And if I pull and tug, I'll break them off. Certainly there's something out there that tells where all these connecting points are at so a person can remove this piece or the front trim, door trim, etc.
I did consider the junk yard for replacement parts but that goes back to the issue above. A piece found at the junk yard is no good if I break off half the clips trying to get it out. It'll never reinstall in my car and attach firmly. I appreciate any advice or direction you can provide. Bob |
