Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

Because i'm dutch, I wanted to build a bike of a Dutch rider.
My eye feld on the Yamaha .

this is the kit to stard with.

And this is how it's gonna be

Now some progress.

The chassis is build and the engine is build and installed.

The cowl and seat are puttied, sanded and sprayed in primer.

After all this was done i build the rearwheel suspention and build it into the chassis.

I also sprayed the fork in alclad chrome.

Now i'm thinking how to get the decals, because these are not for sale .

This is it for now, next update will follow soon.

Re: Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

Sorry it took so long to wait for an update, but i had to do al lot of handpaint work.

All the striping is handpainted ( masked with tamiya maskingtape ).

The chassis is finished, but the frontfork need still some work.

Here some pic's of how the frontfender and seatcover are painted

So you can see how much work it was

Now the tank is sprayed in cleargloss after i made a dryfit of all the parts which were painted.

The handlebars are partly painted, but need some work.

Good job....but the painting.....I know it's very difficult, but you have to touch up it a bit...don't you?

Those stripes look a bit too sloppy.

Nice bike. The stripes are very straight and symmetrical but they do need to be touched up a bit.

Re: Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

Coming along nicely. I recently built this kit but with the Sheene Livery. I found it a really fun kit to build.

Re: Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

You're progressing! But I agree on the stripes. Wasn't there any decals or was the hand painting just the cheap way of doing it?

Re: Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

Joel, there are no decals of this bike.
So i had to do it all by hand.

I tryed to print decals, but this was no succes.
I will partly try to get the striping better, but on the foto's the look worser than they are in real.

Re: Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

Hi people, I am considering doing this bike again as the Akai kit is now here to stay. Printing was suspended previously when old KR kits dried up.

I am not sure when, but you can strip all the lovely work and add decals, ;-)

Unhappy Re: Yamaha YZR500 jack middelburg

Rod,the bike will be painted while it is in a contest.
But let me know when you've got the decals.
The bike is build so i can disassemble the cowling to decal and sand it at any time.

Till then it will be the now civil YZR in ands of the present owner ( whithout any sponsordecals ).

This is a picture of the dryfit whit the cowl on.

In need to do the numbershielddecals and paint the site ones yellow.

More to come very sone.

It's finished so far.

And some old time looking pic's

Now this bike is being nice beside the Sheene suzuki and Spencer NSR.

Thanks for all comments
