1996 Grand Prix SE engine trouble

Alright... where to start I was driving one day and when I tried to accelerate the engine would start to "putter" and so now I need your help guys... I've recently replaced the spark plugs and the spark plug wires. The problem was still there the only different thing is the check engine light came on so I took the car to auto zone had them read the code and it turned out to be the airflow censor so I replaced that then to reset the codes I disconnected the battery and then I drove it around a bit it has gotten better but it still does the puttering. So if anyone has any suggestions that would be great thanks for your time

*edit* the fuel filter was replaced about 25k miles ago so it's still fine *edit*

disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the codes on an OBDII vehicle. It requires a scan tool. It should reset itself after a certain number of run cycles if a scan tool isn't available.

I would suspect the catalytic converter or a restricted muffler maybe. Did the putter start before you changed the plugs and wires? If it started after the change you may not have a wire pushed down all the way or a bad plug.

@richtazz: oh... well I'm still learning

@wlkjr: I'll be sure to look into that, and yeah the putter started b4 I changed the plugs and wires so I just thought the engine was missing but that doesn't seem to be the problem I'm going to look at the fule pump
