Re: Now I'm desperate and really need help

P302 indicates a misfire on cylinder #2. You stated you changed the plugs but what about the wires? The wires contribute to misfires as much as plugs. Also you didn't mention the engine size. Change the wires, if it is a 4 cyl change the plug connectors. This should eliminate the misfire. If not then the next step will be the coil or the fuel injector.

Mine is 'puttering', if that makes sense, while it's sitting idle. It's like it's stumbling slightly. Everything has to be quiet in order for me to hear it. Any idea on what this could be?

Clean the idle air control motor. It should improve the idle quality.

Re: Now I'm desperate and really need help

knowledge1980,

I assuming you have a 3. 4L V6. What exactly did you do with the coils. Did you switch them out with an opposing bank? You can swap coil 2/5 with 3/6 and see if the misfire shifts. Definitely do what GTP Dad suggested by looking at the ignition wires. Use OEM AC Delco spark plugs and wires only. The 3.4L is finicky when it comes to other brand parts.

Two other known issues on the Alero with 3.4L is the ignition control module (ICM) and possible flaky CAT convertor causing misfire.
