Unfortunately, the location of the window, mirror and seat controls in the drivers armrest, leave a lot to be desired. First, they are prone to collect dust, pollen and other air borne pollutants into the switch assembly. Second, if you open the door during a heavy rain, the switches rapidly become soaked with water. Electrical switches with this combination of trash and moisture will eventually fail. You can either replace the switches, or try what I found to work, when my right passenger side window developed a mind of its own. I used a “Zep” brand (available @ Home Depot) water displacer/lubricant in the switches and after about 1 week, all switches were operating normally. That was about two years ago and I have not had one problem since. I prefer the Zep product to WD-40, due to the extended lubricating qualities. If you try it, you’ll like it!

The chrome can also be removed from the switches, if carefully pulled straight up. This will give you much better access to the mechanism. I used a couple q-tips and rubbing alcohol to clean my switches. Hotz28's method with the Zep product sounds a lot easier, though!

bpp4040,
Any updates? I was having the exact same issue - driver's side power seat and interior lights - on my '96. I'd love to hear how you fixed it. I can accept the seat not working again without a major investigation, but not having the interior lights is annoying late at night. |

HotX28,
Thanks for the tip on the door switches. Do you think that would actually affect the interior lighting as well? |

Re: my 1995 buick park ave drivers power seat will not work
I actually created this problem in my 95 PA. I shorted out the recline switch for the driver's side power seat and lost all driver seat controls, interior lights, trunk lights, and power mirrors. I removed the drivers seat to adjust the seat manually and in doing so found a control module under the driver seat. I have full power comming in to this contol module but nothing comming out. I want to buy a replacement unit but I can not find what this control module under the driver's seat is called. I do not think it is the Body Control Module since the BCM is supposed to be located in the right side of the dash. Any help would be appreciated.

In my 92PA that module is the memory seat/memory mirror control module. it is probably the same in later modles.
