Not your usual Blower Resistor Question
Like many people, I have a problem with my blower only working on certain speeds (4 & 5 only). This is the second time that I have had this problem with the blower motor resistor on my 99 GA.
I went to a local salvage yard the other day to try to find a used blower motor resistor... Everything was going fine until I removed the resistor bank from the blower housing and then... a bunch of water came pouring out of the housing. Needless to say, I didn't take it home with me that day. What I am looking for are the values of the four resistors that are on the resistor board. Does anyone have this information available or know where to find it??? Once I have the values, I am going to see if I can find resistors online that I will be able to wire up in place of the blower motor resistor bank. Of course, this is all permitting if I can find the correct value and power rated resistors. Thanks for reading Brian |

Re: Not your usual Blower Resistor Question
You aren't going to fix the whole "water pouring out of the housing" thing?

Re: Not your usual Blower Resistor Question
Welcome to AF jones223 !
So the water issue was in a junked car? I would say, for what it costs for the reistors and the time involved trying to wire them up, it would be cheaper to just buy a New one from Napa or a GM stealership. They are only around $25 new ! This is what a new one (should)look like, Blow Resistor

Re: Not your usual Blower Resistor Question
Thank you, I think I can learn a lot here on the forums, and make some contributions too.
Yes, the water in the blower housing was in a junked car. In fact, the picture of the resistors on the right looks awful familiar... I also notice the resistors on the left seem to have a different coating on them? Is this a revision? Thanks for the input, I probably will just flat out buy a new one. Brian |

Re: Not your usual Blower Resistor Question
Yes the right one is stock GM part, which I dont really know why they blow(other than they are junk).
Havnt read any TSB's on the matter, but I'd say heat was a factor in the failure, and/or condinsation build up and shorts them out, or flipping through the speeds on the fan repeatedly, with the above conditions ![]() The Left one is definatly revised. Its longer to disapate heat better, and I'm sure the coating is thicker to keep it dry. Chances are, you would not find the flat type resistors, and soldering them would be next to impossible. So purchasing a new one would save you alot of headaches/backaches in the future. Big PITA standing on your head for this little job
