info on LS engine swap?

I was at my local salvage yard and i found a dx hatch that was hit in the front, so i got all kinds of parts i needed for the rear.

but while i was there today i found 89 integra LS with engine, tranny, ecu and everything still working and in the car. anyone have a link or just info on what i need, specs of the engine, what engine it is (all i know is it is DOHC,but is it vtec?) can it go into the 91 civic hatch easier than a b16, I know i can get the stuff for less than the b16. help me out, i got no clue what i'm walking into.

Later~

89 is still a 1st gen Integra. its a d16a1 if i remember correctly, which is a version of the ZC. From what i've read online, This engine does not bolt into a 88-91 civic, the mounts are in different locations.

Nope, not vtec.

By the way, how messed up is the teg? If not too bad I would get it and do it up or use it as a daily driver, either way works. Lots of people autocross those.

oh, if its not even a zc i don't want to be bothered.

you can't drive it, the whole rear has been cut off it.

Depends what engine it is.

D16A1 Acura Integra 1986-1987
D16A3 Acura Integra 1988-1989
D16A3 Acura Integra 1988-1989
D16A8/9 Acura Integra 1988-1989

Id get a newer LS motor and do LSVtec, b18b or LS/Turbo. Here is what you need to do a LS/Vtec swap

first off....
the B16A head is off either 1st or 2nd gen SiR's and also can be found in some Del sol's known as the B16A3
1 gen B16a1 or B17A(92-93 GSR)
2 gen B16A2
Del sol B16A3
Best used because of better flow through the head

and it will tell you on the head it self it should say above the exhaust ports PR3-1( 1 gen) PR3-2( 2nd gen ) PR3-3 ( 2nd Gen usdm delsol

the GSR head is a B18 head and it will also say above the exhaust ports P72
not good in the flow ports ... too restricted..

Type R P73 code

Perfrect flow through the ports...

your either better off getting a Type R head.... or if your low on doe get the B16 head and put the type r valvetrain in it, almost like a type R head.... just more affordable

also to get the head ot fit right you have to re-locate the dowlpins to the other side .. also tap the oil line and plug it.... get a machine shop to do all this stuff..... there experts in the field or doing that stuff...

go to : www.c-speedracing.com they have a good article about it
i think they got it from www.diyracing.com?? im not sure if that is the site they got it form... but c-speed has a better way of tell ing you.

hope that helps

eh while im at it here are some other swaps you could try...

Actually, the 2002+ Honda Civic Si is the K20A1.

The K20A3 in the base RSX has a dual stage intake manifold. The Civic Si has a single stage intake manifold. There are several other minute differences as well, but I'm just showing they are not the same engine, contrary to popular belief.

No, its a waste of time getting a first gen teg (D16A1?) engine in your civic. Please dont bring up old threads.
