subframe creak

1997 Century developed a strange creaking and thud noticeable at your feet on the passenger side, and slightly on the drivers side. This occurs ONLY when transitioning from throttle to brake or from brake to throttle.

Replaced motor mounts top and bottom, new Monroe struts (left the strut top mounting and bearing), checked tightness of suspension components. Upgraded the rear link bushings.

What next? I was told it could be control arm bushings.

New to the forum, help with this one could not be found using search.

Re: subframe creak

Welcome to AF.

I agree that creaking sound is typically the control arm bushings. What is your current mileage?

Re: subframe creak

I'd check out the bushings first with a visual inspection. But it sounds consistent with control arm bushings. The creaking is normally only there during some form of movement.

Re: subframe creak

I would agree on sub frame bushings, common around here. If I remember right for that year it is a 3 piece bushing but it could be a 1 piece.
