i'm just back from the dealer for the 2nd time, trying to fix distortion in my am radio. ( the distortion is so bad at times i can't stand listening to it ) dealer recognizes problem as one that all new 3 series has and there is no fix for the problem. they referred problem to enginering dept. and as soon as they come up with fix they will let me know.( i like listening to talk radio but not in my new bmw) i thought bmw was a quality car??? wonder how long i have to wait? bmw head quarters is aware of problem also. anyone else with this problem please let me know?

I had/have the same problem. Am extremely disappointed. Took it to my dealer several times. First claimed reception was fine, later addmitted there was a problem and claim all german cars (Merc, audi, VW) have the same problem due to radio's not being tuned for AM reception. Well, I also have a VW and the reception is fine.
Do you have window tint? Final determination was that the newer window tints contain titanium (or some other metals) and this interferes with the aentena in the rear window. This may be true, as I drove a loaner while they were looking at mine without tint and it had much better reception. Anyway, for $40,000 I expect to have AM reception. Not sure I can ever buy another BMW as a result. They need to fix this ASAP, but they seem to have the attitude that this is just the way it is, tough luck. If you ever get a resolution, please let me know. [email protected] |

I don't have tint on my bmw windows, just standard. I didn't check the radio when I bought the car because am is so basic I assumed they'd have it right. What a mistake, had I known what I know now I wouldn't have bought the bmw.
