04 Cavalier vs 86 Camaro

2004 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 Ecotec Manual Mods: I/E Pulleys
vs
1986 Chevy Camaro 305 v8 Auto Mods: K&N and Chip

First race: 40mph roll he jumped the gun got half a car on me and stayed there because my dumb ass had the A/C on.

After that we flew around for a while because my friend is an idiot. He kept punching it every chance he could and I was catching up everytime.

But we kinda got one more race if you wanna call it that.

From about 35 We both punched it. I was behind the maro and we were passing up about 4 or 5 cars. (no I don't do this all the time) But before we got around the cars I was catching him so I had to let off so I didn't hit him. But he kept going so I got on it again(fair?) But it was a one lane road and I was on the wrong side going around a turn about 90 so I let off so noone would die.lol But I was catching up again. Even with him on the inside lane of the turn.

The kid won't admit my car is faster, even though all these races were on the way home from the track. and my best was 15.3@87 his was 15.5@85 (It was hot and humid out. I normally run 15.0's)
But what are ya gonna do?

BTW:this camaro owner also thought his old 3.4 AUTO!!! Camaro was god and talked shit on me all the time, but would never race me.

Be safe man.

But nice kill. Those 305 Autos weren't anything to write home about. My friend had a 305 TA and before he dropped a built 350 in, it was a dog for an 8 cylinder.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

I'll be safe. Thanks guys.

As far as those year/model camaro's being slow.Us N/A four bangers have to pick on someone with a V8! Usually older camaros and pre 99 mustangs.

I'm going turbo though so soon this will change. (already ordered)

Re: 04 Cavalier vs 86 Camaro

yeah be careful man, last thing we need is for someone to die street racing or hear about you on the news.

As for the turbo, i would be alittle weary right now, over on jbody.org a good handful of Ecotec engines have been blown with boost in the last few months, many of them only running 6-12 PSI. You should go read up on it first and try to figure out where they went wrong, or if the block isnt as strong as GM made it out to be.

Re: 04 Cavalier vs 86 Camaro

Irocs aren't that bad for their day and age. A guy I know from another board was running high 14's with an automatic one, and he had the 305 block (He had a cam on it though, and some bolt ons). Bone stock, for this day and age, it will get trumped by most everything that runs in the 14's. They ran a low 15 sec. 1/4 mile stock, with the 5 speeds running high 14's (I believe later on in 91 they actually had 230hp).

Anyways, i'd say good kill at the track, but honestly racing from a roll against that car is probably gonna go in that car's favor. I've raced cars that had better power to weight ratios then me on the street, and from a roll. They'd probably beat me pretty good from a dig, but they raced me from a roll and I won. Gotta remember that a roll race favors the high horsepowered car, not the car with the best power to weight ratio (Provided of course that the car isn't moving a huge frontal area, and that it isn't ridiculously heavy ~ i.e. GT500).

Race him again on the freeway. My guess is that he will beat you, but not by much. Just remember that roll races are typically gay, and running from a dig is where it is at, as it involves the most skill

Re: 04 Cavalier vs 86 Camaro

Ok, sorry. hopefully you guys can excuse my ignorance to the whole Z28 thing. next time we are on our way to the track I will see if he wants to run a FAIR race from a roll. maybe like 40 or so. But I know for a fact that I'll beat him. Maybe I'll try to get it on tape for you guys. but that would mean an extra person in my car=not good.
Like I said we both punched it and if I hadn't let off the gas I would of rammed into the back of the Camaro. He trapped 85 I trapped 87 that day.

besides I don't have anything to prove to this kid. He just got his license back. (lost it for a year) if that tells you anything...

Hers' what would happen if we raced from a roll; We would race and even if I was ahead as soon as I let off the gas or run into the governor he would surely keep going and say that I "couldn't hang" or couldn't keep up or whatever... So I think I'll just try to line up against him at the track.

Regardless it is sad that he is trying to compare his v8 camaro to a 4cyl Cavalier...haha That's alright like I said, there's a little present in the mail that will even out the playing field!

That's cool tho. I didn't know about that... a roll gives the advantage to the higher hp car... It makes sense.

Peace

It's all in the dyno tune. Only an idiot wouldn't do a dyno tune w/ a car being converted from N/A to forced induction. I'm sure Cavaliercrazy knows this. I bet money that those fools with engine failures were running too lean.
