Another harsh shifting issue

My son has a '97 Blazer 4WD that has the infamous harsh1-2 shift. A little history:
He bought the vehicle knowing he would have to replace the tranny which had other problems besides the 1-2 shift issue. It now has a "new" rebuilt tranny and the only issue now is this hard 1-2 shift which by the way is sproradic. I have not had a chance to find out if it happens when it's hot or at some other time yet. There are no codes being thrown and the thing runs great otherwise. It has new plugs, wires, filters, distrb cap, rotor.
Is the likely culprit in his case the ignition switch I've read so much about or something else? I'm very doubtful of suspecting anything with the tranny as the work was performed by a very capable mechanic.
Thanks!

Did it have the problem before transmission was replaced or just after?
Has the switch ever been replaced? They are a good suspect.
Also 1996 had a vcm grounding problem.
But a good scan with a transmission/engine capable scanner would be in order to.
And talk to the transmission man about it. If it has a problem I am sure he would want to know and would help even if not the transmission.

Re: Another harsh shifting issue

My son is pretty sure it was happening before the tranny was replaced although there were lots of problems with the tranny before.

The switch has never been replaced.

My son is taking it back to see what the mechanic has to say about it.
