Hay bigtoe555, welcome to AF!

Saying that it will not "start" leaves out a few items. It could mean that the starter doesn't turn the engine over, or the starter is working but there isn't any spark or fuel to make the engine run. Please let us know which problem you're having.

Re: key cylinder

Are you using the key that came with the lock cylinder?

Is it of the same resistance as the old cylinder?

Sounds like you have a VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System) problem.

If you search this board, you'll find how to bypass this system with some resistors and not have to spend $25 for a spare key.

Re: key cylinder

If you replaced the key along with the cylinder, it does not have the same resistor chip in it. You will need to find out what the resistance should be, which is not easy when you dont have an original key. You will need to figure out which resistor by trial and error.

Re: key cylinder

"4750" would be one of the 15 standard GM resistor key blanks.
