Has anyone had good experiences with their LS?

I seem to be hearing alot of bad things about the Lincoln LS. I was just wondering if this was true about the majority of LS owners. I just bought my LS, used but purchased a warranty to cover it over 100,000 miles.

Where are you hearing the bad things about the LS? If you are making that judgement based upon what you have read on this or similar forums, you need to understand that typically people will only post here when they have questions or problems. Rarely will people post how much the enjoy their car, etc.

As for me, I enjoy my LS8. My wife bought her's a couple years ago. I enjoyed her so much that I traded in my V8 Taurus SHO for a 2004 LS8. I don't regret it. My only real complaint is that I almost wish it wasn't still under warranty so I didn't feel obligated to deal with the dealer for issues. I enjoy the car, just not the local dealer.

There are few highlights to my day, but one of them is when kids in their [your choice of ricer here] with coffee can fart pipes for exhaust change lanes to get beside me at stop lights so they won't be stuck behind "a Lincoln." Light turns green and they get left behind. It's even better if their girlfriend is with them at the time.

I purchased my 2002 LS used with 22,000 miles on it. Now have 75,000 miles and it had performed like a champ. No repairs whatsoever. My experience is very positive.

Re: Has anyone had good experiences with their LS?

I'll be honest with you. We (wife and I ) bought ours 7/27/06 and the second day we had it the airbag light came on. We bought it with 62K miles on it and it was out of it's warranty but the dealer was really good and fixed the car for free for us. The back window (which is my fault) has a fog look to it and is really blurry to look out of. I thought it was just dirty but it's either from the glass or tint it feels smooth on both sides of the glass. But all in all I'm really glad we got the car. For the price, comfort, safty, style, room and price nothing even came close to the Lincoln LS p.s. I'm a GM fan too so that ought to tell you something also.

Re: Has anyone had good experiences with their LS?

I just bought a 2001 V8 with 76K miles about 6 weeks ago and for the first 3 weeks it was in the shop for transmision issues they changed the external solenoid didnt work then they changed the internal and that was not it either, The finaly figured it out and it was something to do with a idle spring ( I guess).
After I picked it up in Chicago I started a long drive 3500 miles in 4 days and the car ran like a CHAMP...averaged 25mpg.
Thought I would regret not paying up for a 528 but not now.

Re: Has anyone had good experiences with their LS?

I bought my 2002 LS V8 Sport with 14k on the clock. It now has 50k. It is the best car I have owned including the Volvos I used to buy. I have had the clockspring and valve covers replaced under warranty but that is no big deal.

After having the car for a few more months. I'm really wanting to get rid of it. The power steering pump has started leaking, the drivers side heated seat went out. The heater dosen't work like it should. The coolant hose clip broke some how. It has to have 89 or better octane in it or it pings. My wife doen't want to get rid of it cause she likes the style and comfort of the POS car.

Re: Has anyone had good experiences with their LS?

I wanted an LS from the first time I saw it. For a guy that got his drivers license in 1956 the LS represents a lot of nostilga. I have had quite a few problems since I bought it new in Sept 2001 but everything was taken care of under warranty. I still don't regret buying it and if I can get my fuel knock taken care of I'll be real happy.

It's a great car otherwise and I can't figure out why Ford doesn't perfect them instead of stopping production.

Issues with the heated seats are somewhat common and are well documented on many LS forums, but I'm not aware of anyone having issues with their PS pump. A broken hose clip doesn't seem to be a huge deal, in the overall scheme of things. The heater may possibly appear to be tempermental due to the way it behaves in the "Auto" mode and the fact that it doesn't really kick in until engine temp reaches a specified level. Factory octane specs are 91 and to expect to get by with anything less isn't reasonable. I'm not sure what you're mileage is, but I assume it's over 50K, since all of these issues are warrantied items. I'm sure that there are a lot of owners of different makes that would be thankful to have such few problems with a vehicle 50K +.

I do apprecitate your view on this but there still should not be this many problems.
And no a broken hose clip isn't that big of a deal. Fortunatly my wife was just about to turn into the driveway be for it puked out all the antifreeze. If I were on the freeway she would have been stranded. ( I know things like this happen but maybe after a year or so after you buy the car not with in the first few months.)

I understand it's a high compression engine it needs high octane fuel. But so did my 98 Z-28 comaro 11.1/1 compression. I could still use 89 octane fuel no pings or dings. The performance was not as good but oh well.

Your right it has about 67K miles on it now. I bought my 2002 GMC Z-71 SLT with 81K miles on it and the only thing I've done to it is replace the stock radio cuase the cd player didn't work (which I knew before I bought the truck) So I have had NO problems. I've always been a Chevy guy and thought I would put my differences asside and try out a Ford not only that but a top of the line Ford a Lincoln. Very dissapointed.

Re: Has anyone had good experiences with their LS?

I forgot to tell you I fixed the heater problem. When it puked out all the antifreeze there was an air bubble I didn't get all the way out. So I can cross that off my list.

Hey man, if your problems are limited to what you've described above, with nearly 70K miles and, most importantly, IT MAKES YOUR WIFE HAPPY, you've still got a bargain.

Yeah I think your right. I've got to drive it fro the past week now (wife is on bed rest for 2 weeks ) so instead of driving my truck I've been driving her car and I think after we round up some money to fix these problems it wont be a bad car. Just frustrated I'll make a list of things to fix
1)power steering pump
2)rear window foggy (may need to replace rear glass I think someone tinted over something to give it a real foggy look to it. Hard to see out the rear glass)
3)heated seat (driverside)
4)e-brake boot broken from center console (cosmetic can live with out)

What fluid do I use for the hydraulic fan? Thanks Brian
