Angry Is it my fuse or something else?

I replaced the battery to my 1984 MGM, and then all over a sudden my alternator died, so I replaced that and the battery again. Well this morning, my car wouldn't start. So after work a friend took me to Checker to buy new jumper cables, we end up having to push my car into a different parking spot, so that the batteries were next to each other. I put the cables on my car battery and then when I bend down to pick up the other end, my daughter trips over the cable and the ends touch and start sparking, my friend had left the ignition on! I tried to turn the car over, but it wouldn't do anything. Did I fry the alternator, fuses, or did we screw something else up? PLEASE HELP ME

Re: Is it my fuse or something else?

You may have blown a fuse or fusible link. You may have fried the alternator or the electronic ignition. When jumping a car, you connect the positive cable to the good car, then connect the positive cable to the dead car, then connect the negative cable to the good car, and last connect the negative cable to the dead car.
Does the car turn over? Did you have any warning lights the last time you drove the car? Was there a clicking noise when you tried to start the car? Did you try turning on the headlights to see if the battery was charged before trying to jump the car? Just wondering if the starter quit on you. The first thing you need to do is make sure the battery is charged. Then using a test light, make sure all the fuses are good. Make sure the solenoid is getting power from the ignition switch. If the car starts after charging the battery, you need to look for reasons why the battery died. Is the trunk light staying on? Do you have a defective alternator? Do you have good, clean, secure connections to the alternator, battery, starter?

Check back after checking a few things.

Might also check the solenoid, one time my bro hooked my battery up backwards and burnt the solenoid out, we replaced it and the battery and all's well...
