Angry Acceleration Problem? 1990 240SX

When I first got the car the clutch was already bad, everytime I shifted it would be hard shifting, and everytime I shift into third gear it would grind.
I realized I needed a new clutch, so when I went to install the clutch, one of the sensors in the rear of the transmission (When I dropped down the transmission) broke. I reinstalled the transmission, the flywheel did not need any resurfacing, I changed my motor mounts and transmission mount, but while draining the transmission I saw some metal bits, but I figured I either didn't have the money to fix it or couldn't do anything about it.
So while installing the transmission, everything went okay. Brand new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing and fork came in the package that I bought.
When everything was setup, and the transmission reinstalled, mounts reinstalled, drive shaft reinstalled, I started up my car, it started up fine.

When it came to driving there was a totally different feel. First, the clutch petal was way too soft. I tried bleeding it, but still no effect. Everytime I stepped on the petal, there would be a hard rumbling feel and sound. Acceleration was at its lowest point, even with a brand new clutch. I could not keep up with other cars in traffic, and felt as if I was barely moving.

When I look at my speedometer, acceleration is extremely slow but RPM's rev very high. Also, still I had problems shifting gears. It would still be a bit rough going through each gear, and I still have a problem with the third gear grinding.

When I look at my speedmoter, instead of smooth acceleration with the speed, it jumps with the RPM's.

Help? I don't know what's wrong. Brand new clutch ... What the hell Spent many hours working on this.

Keep in mind I am writing this for my friend, I know almost nothing about cars (I was typing as he told me the problems with it), he's been using my garage as his own mechanics garage thingy.

Now when the sensor broke... he asked my neighbor across the street (he's a mechanic for a living) and he said not to worry about it, it was 'nothing'. And my friend bought that story.

However... Me, knowing nothing about cars, thinks that is stupid. Why would it be there if it wasn't important? And I told him that I think that is the problem. So no, it's not fixed.

Re: Acceleration Problem? 1990 240SX

im guessing the sensor that you broke was the back up sensor...no biggie. A sensor in the tranny would not cuase you to accel shitty, sounds to me like your clutch was installed wrong as it sounds like it is slipping (which would come down to possibly needing to resurface your flywheel. Also it sounds like driving the car around with a fucked clutch ended up killing your synchros in your tranny....in the end...just get a new tranny there like 150 bucks

...done and done.

First of all, if your clutch was bad, it would not make a grinding sound. THAT is the sign of a bad tranny. The guy selling you guys the car must have said it "oh its just a clutch" in order to sell you guys the car. I would not drive the car until the transmission is checked out. If you continue, it will make things worse.

Re: Acceleration Problem? 1990 240SX

i would also think that if it was mainly grinding in 3rd gear that it wasnt a clutch problem as the clutch somewhat effects all gears.

and about the tranny cost, you know how much a sr20black top tranny usually costs and where to get it?
thanks

Re: Acceleration Problem? 1990 240SX

tranny is toast. synchros are probably torn to shit. i've got an extra tranny if you want it. its in perfect working condition. i was actually saving it for my next 240 but you can take it from me if you're willing to pay the shipping.

add: resurface your flywheel
