I own a 2002 Lexus Is 300. Recently the driver side headlight went out. I replaced the bulb and found the light to turn half on, flutter, and cut out lastly to nothing. I took it in to the local Meade Lexus in Utica Michigan two days in a row. Day one: Dissemble, scratch head, reassemble. Day two four hours from arrival synopsis-ignitor for low beam HID inop. Two choices to rectify: #1. Buy an ignitor $1196.00. #2. Buy a whole brand new headlamp assembly $1396. Reccommendation from friendly James my service advisor = SPEND THE $1396 YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Now he may be right but that is a hard price to justify.
Does anyone know a better way to tackle this?

The part no. given to me for a brand new full headlamp assembly ($1396) is 8115053040. The part no. I was given for just the ignitor is 8110753040.
Not sure what to do next and any input would be greatly appreciated.
