Unhappy 01 Trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

My 01 blazer has started to idle rough lately when slowing down or coming to a stop. It then ocassionaly stalls while doing this. In addition, sometimes when I start to drive it takes a while for it to shift gears and is very loud. The engine light goes on and off, this happens more when my gas tank drops below a 1/4 tank.

Per the auto shop it's the Throttle Sensor (code 22).

What was the actual code they gave you, OBDII codes aren't two digit numbers.

It's the TPS, PO122. Thought I typed the whole thing in there, sorry.

Re: 01 Trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

Okay so I cleaned the throttle body, seeing as that is a common answer given to this type of problem (that stuff stinks!!). Seemed to work great. Then coming home from the store, after stopping a stop sign and then turning, it stalled on me again. arghhh!!!

I am thinking that I need to replace the TPS. Is this a good idea or is there another possible solution?

could very well be that seeing the code is pointing to it.

Re: 01 Trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

I just had a similar problem...rough idle. Same code. Swapped the TPS & it cleared up immediately. Just make sure when you install it that you don't force it straight in. You'll tear up the little plastic "ears" where the TPS mates to the throttle. To get it to seat properly rotate it 5 or 10 degrees clockwise (or to the "right") of how you'll screw it in. Then when it seats firmly, rotate it counter-clockwise until you can get the Torx screws back in.

It's a 10-minute job.

Re: 01 Trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

So replaced the TPS (cost 36.98 at advance auto) and the air filter (it was really dirty) now it runs like a champ. I disconnected the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds and it cleared out the computer.

Thanks for all the help..hope this helps someone else!!!
