Make sure no wires will get drilled into, and drill a hole in the firewall and install a grommet. Don't even think of running that wire thru until you have a grommet..

Re: 2001 Eclipse amp wiring

I didnt run mine through the firewall....i went through the left front fender, and through the driver door. There is that rubber boot that runs the wires to the factory speakers and power windows from the door to the cabin that I tapped into to run my amp wire. I just used a coat hanger connected to the "O" end of the power wire, dragged it through the fender and ran it through the door....dont even know its there unless you look through the fender.

Re: 2001 Eclipse amp wiring

i would never drill a hole in the fire wall. it is called a fire wall for a reason.

Re: 2001 Eclipse amp wiring

Why not? You already have MANY holes in it, from the factory. As long as you install a grommet, your fine. Besides, if engine swarms, you think a thin sheet of steel's gonna keep you protected?

there should be a hole big enough for the wire near the back of the resonator box on the 4 bangger, (the drivers side)

Re: 2001 Eclipse amp wiring

yes, but the firewally is structurally sound as well, it doesn't only function as a barrier b/t you and the heat of the engine, it is also a chassis brace and protects you in the event of an accident. i say messing with things that are already structurally sound, is a bad idea.

but hey, it's ur life

Re: 2001 Eclipse amp wiring

So those two 1" holes I've drilled into my firewall are going to cause the structural integrity of my car to be de-graded? I guess all those lightening holes drilled in lower control arms and such on factory vehicles is bad?
