I have a new one for you guys.

Some guy posted this on another forum im on i thought it was funny.

for subs you should be running around 50-100hz and have the low pass frequency switched on... the subs that handle higher hz are usually 4ohm or more and can be ran with mixed frequencies... for bass you need a 2ohm or less sub and low frequencies... this gives the higher dbs...

i thought it was funny. Thought i would share the laughter.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: I have a new one for you guys.

edited for easier laughter. He was acting like he knew car audio to the nth degree and he posted that the impendance is in conjunction with the frequency. They have nothing to do with each other.

Re: I have a new one for you guys.

actually the impedance of a driver is a function of the frequency it is being fed ......

although it is hard to say what he is getting at, I think he is saying the subs (that play the lower freq's) usually have a lower impedance rating. This is generally true because most bass amps are class D, and make a LOT more power at lower impedances.

I guess I don't know what "burp" means, either. Or maybe I call it something else..

Re: I have a new one for you guys.

the burp is where you play the bass for 3 seconds to get your highest volume in a competition.

I am far grom knowing everything, just been at this a while .... my first car stereo comp was like 1979 or 80.

Re: I have a new one for you guys.

Ahh, I see. I've been messing with electronics for a while(16yrs?), but never heard of that. But then again, I don't do competition.

Re: I have a new one for you guys.

Yeah i didnt know what a burp was until 4 years ago when i was with my uncle at a show near baltimore. But this guy acted like he has been competing for years, and he said whats a burp.

And i do sort of understand paul how the impendance can have a slight effect on the frequency but theway he made it sound was that a dvc 2 ohm would play lower frequency ranges while a svc 4ohm would play higher in the same box and at the same power level.

Re: I have a new one for you guys.

the impedance of a driver in the bass region can be a wild curve, it can go as high as like 60 ohms on some. That's part of what the box does ...... smooth out the impedance curve.

and yea, it's kinda fun to sit back and listen to people make fools of themselves when they talk like an expert on something they just heard someone else say. Generally they attack you when you say something contrary, because they can't defend their statement(s)
