Re: DVD Problems
I don't know if this will be of any help but since no one else has responded yet, I thought I would at least throw in my two cents and tell you what I know.
Having installed several DVD burners on my computers, I'm somewhat familiar with region codes. I won't go into details about why the region codes exist, but the USA and Canada are both region 1 and if you purchase a retail DVD in either country they should play fine as long as the player has been set to play region 1 disks. (In general, region codes don't apply to recordable DVDs. A DVD that you make on a PC with a DVD burner or in a home DVD video recorder will most likely play in all regions).
Most players/recorders are able to have their region codes changed but usually there is a limit of 5 changes per machine. It may be possible that the region code has been changed 5 times already but that is highly unlikely. However, if the region is reset everytime that the battery is disconnected, that is a plausible cause of the problem. Still it's unlikely though because the player should still remain at the 5th setting which is most likely region 1.
If you've tried several retail DVDs and none worked, I would try calling a few other Chevy dealerships and talking to their service departments. Sometimes some are more helpful than others.
I don't think I've been any help but I know what it's like to not get any responses to a post. Good Luck!
