Overheats when air conditioning is on
I have a 1997 Plymouth Neon that seams to overheat only when I turn on the air. My air does need recharged but would that make it over heat? The fans also do not kick on. The car can idle for an hour in 99 degree heat and be fine but the second I turn on the air it overheats and the fans never turn on. Is there a connection with the air and it overheating?

To answer your question, yes! When your A/C kicks on it puts more of a load on the engine causing it to work harder, meaning more heat generated.
You need to replace the fuse and/or fan relay. |

the Freon doesn't efferct the fan or relay. Also keep in mind that a perfectly working ac system when sitting in traffic on a hot day---will eventually over heat your engine...but it still shouldn't effect the fan coming on or off. Good luck |

Re: Overheats when air conditioning is on
Thanks for everyone’s help. Fan problem ended up being a loose connector on the fan assembly its self. I probed it and there was 12v on the connector be the fans where not coming on. Noticed that the connector’s clip that holds it in place was broken. I pushed the connector back in place and hit it with some silicon to hold it there. Works fine.
