Tamiya products
A few quick questions about Tamiya spray paint and putty...
What type of primer needs to be used (other obviously than Tamiya's own primers)? There appears to be several types of Tamiya putty - 'basic', 'quick' and 'fine' - the later two being described as epoxys. Obviously, the 'quick' is quick curing, but otherwise, is there much difference? I've tried Tamiya's own website, but it's no help.... Thanks!

you can use any type of laquer primer. it must be laquer though. Like Duplicolor or even Model Master laquer primers work good.
not too sure about the putty though, but i'm sure someone here will give you a good answer

I always use Presto filler-primer as the base coat, since it fills small mistakes and its gray color helps you seeing the mistakes. as the surface is free from all mistakes and ready for color coats, I use tamiya's white primer. if I'm gonna use automotive paint on the model, I use another white primer, which is not acrylic.
of course you can skip that graycoat and use tamiya's white primer as the basecoat. I don't know about Tamiya's putty, I use automotive polyester putty on my models.
