impreza ignition parts

I need to replace the plugs, wires, and probably the coil pack on my mom's 98 Impreza sport. I think it's the 2.2L Anyway, I got a few questions.

Where is the cheapest place to get a coilpack? The site I usually use doesn't carry any.

Any problems running Bosch wires? I found a set for $24.

Which plugs are good, what should I avoid. I personally prefer copper plugs, as they are cheaper and I don't mind replacing them more often than platinums or iridiums. I'm guessing NGKs were OEM, so I'll probably go with BKR6E-11 NGK

Thanks in advance.

Re: impreza ignition parts

I got a new coilpack from Subaru for ~$170. I found it later for ~$130 online.

NGK plugs are a must with Subarus. Others will act up.

I've heard OEM wires are best, but I don't know why. But I that's what I got.

Re: impreza ignition parts

I can't find it. Still looking. I have the p/n at home... I think.

You need to check the info plate in the doorjamb and see what month the car was manufactured. They made changes in July 98, and swicthed out some of these parts.

Edit:

Looks like I got boned on the coilpack because I have the 2.5L (same p/n as the last one here: )

2.2L Eng
- 95-97 ... 22433AA370 ($99.98)
- 98 ... 22433AA400 ($57.98)
- 99-01 ... 22433AA410 ($172.47)

Make the parts department look it up by your VIN to be sure.

Re: impreza ignition parts

^ are those dealership prices.

I couldn't find one on the link freakray gave, and I'd prefer not to break down and go through a dealership if I can buy cheaper online. Thanks

Re: impreza ignition parts

Sweet, thanks for the help guys. Oh quick questions, what's the stock gap? And what am I torquing them to?

Re: impreza ignition parts

I forget. I must look it up every time.

Also, they're a bitch to get to if you don't have the right tools. I use a plug socket (with the little rubber grabber inside), a 3" extension and a 1.5" u-joint, hooked up in that order.

I remove my battery from the car completely, as well as the front part of the intake snorkel.

I moved the washer fluid tank one time, but left it another, so it's not too bad. It's kinda of a pain to move if it's more than 1/2 full.

Re: impreza ignition parts

I got a vr4, I have to remove intake plenum and half the engine bay to get to the rear plugs So I'm not too worried.

Checked the manual and found .039-.043 and I'll probably just torque to ~18ft/lbs. Thanks again guys.
