dash trouble

I was messing with my headunit again I guess what now its dead along with my instrument cluster Im so stupid anyway the first thing I checked where the fuses and they seemed ok this happend at night the green lights for what gear your in are dead and when I drive the lights light up but the needles dont move at all Im going to take a better look first thing in the morning any kind of input or advice would be great I hope its a loose wire or something simple what can it be for it to die like that??? and can it be possable I fried the instrument cluster ???? keep in mind the headunit is dead too and that the actual lighting for the numbers still work making it an isolated problem of some sorts between a part of the dash lighting system and the headunit
