why does everyone hate sony
as you can see by my avatar that's pretty much all i have.

Everyone hates Sony because everyone is a snob, i still use their amps though, they cost sweet f.a. and they do their job.
Sony is also associated with greeks and italians pumping "doof doof" down shopping centres, so its kinda got a negative image from that, but otherwise, alsong as people hear ur system before they see it, they'll respect it.

I try my level best to listen with my ears ... not my eyes.
Sony has gotten a bad rep in the last like 5-10 years because their quality, at least in car audio, has slipped.

Sony speakers sound weird compared to other brands such as your pioneer or your alpine, even those with partial tone deafness can hear that the sony x-plod range of speakers do give off a different sound to the yellow kevlar pioneer or a soundstream. I only use thier amps, theyre good fun and they dont look bad, give my kenwood sub enough power and run everything nicely.

They have horrible build quality, horrible engineering, and horrible products.
Tha last good thing sony made in the +12v world was in 2001, the last of the mobile_ES line. Anymore, they should just stick to making TV's. Sony car audio blows. nG

Cant remember who posted it but if you see it give yourself credit Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. Cardomain

Sony can make a good monitor, not a good speaker.
Theyre a major electronics corp and to make money the big dogs will stick their noses wherever they can. I guess they should've put in more $$$ into car audio engineering. BTW, their custie svc dept disappointed me a number of times.
