2001 Windstar stalling!!
Thanks in advance for the advice. I have gotten many great ideas from this Forum.
My 2001 Windstar has stalled immediately after starting twice in the last month. It happens after the car has been driven during the day and is shut off for less than 15 minutes and then started again. The car starts and immediately idles down and cuts off. I start it again and it idles down and cuts off. To get it started I have to tap the gas after starting to keep it going until the idle smooths out and I have no further problems. There are no other symptoms of a problem. I had a code for an O2 sensor, fixed it, and replaced the spark plugs between the two instances but no other issues. Thanks for the help.. |

Re: 2001 Windstar stalling!!
You may have fuel/idle air issues. Sounds like you're occasionally cranking the engine without fuel pressure or without idle air ... after a bit of vibration, something "wakes up" and gets to doing its job... then the engine is running as it should.
Fuel pump? Fuel pump relay? PCM power relay? IAC valve? etc, etc. |

Re: 2001 Windstar stalling!!
Since it's easy and takes care of many idle problems, I'd clean the IAC first.

Thanks to you both,
I'll clean the IAC and if the symptom comes back I'll look to the fuel/air issues. |
