I installed a new car stereo today, a new Kenwood to replace the factory deck.
I got a wiring harness, and then connected the following wires that Kenwood needs: Red ignition Yellow 12v constant Ground Speakers The positive dimmer and illumination wires had no connection available to the Kenwood deck. The stereo works great, but now there are no signals or hazard lights? I checked all the fuses inside the car and under the hood, nothing blown. I have a Haynes manual, and can't see anything else to check. Please help! Thanks in advance. |

Re: No Turn Signals or Hazard lights...
Have you tried unhooking the stereo to see if your lights will work? If they work with the stereo disconnected something in the stereo is causing the problem, probably too much electrical load in the red circuit. Maybe you can find an alternate place to pick up the red ignition?

Re: No Turn Signals or Hazard lights...
Hi Clifton,
We did try unhooking the stereo and the signals and hazard lights still do not work. Rechecked all fuses and none are blown..... |

Re: No Turn Signals or Hazard lights...
OK, that clears the stereo as the problem source. At this point I would use a multimeter or test lamp and chase the circuits. I don't have a wiring diagram or a book for your car, is there a circuit breaker for the signal lights? Check it if there is one, Check for 12 volts in the circuit beginning at the fuse box. You could have a defective hazard flasher, the turn signals go through the hazard flasher on most cars. Hope this information helps you on the right track. Good luck.

Re: No Turn Signals or Hazard lights...
if you have no turn signals or hazard lights youve killed something called the blinker box or flasher unit.
now wouldnt it be so useful if I told you exactly where iit was, seeing as I have a 95 protege and the chiltons manual? Well I dont know couldnt find where it is. most likely it is in the drivers side pedal area near the fuses themselves. any reason why you may have pulled a fuse from the flasher box? two different fuses for turn signals and hazard ok, so unless both are out you can eliminate fuses, both go to the flash unit. thats your proble, good luck
