What is the best way to get chewing gum off pants? I was lucky enough to sit on some...

TIA

Re: gum on pants

I've heard all kinds of things but none seem like good ideas: mayo, peanut butter, vinegar, various other food products and combos. My suggestion is a scraping tool and patience

Re: gum on pants

A couple of tricks I have heard that work on removing gum from fabric, upholstery, and carpeting is to put an ice cube on the gum until it hardens and you can pick it off. I also heard that peanut butter smeared on the gum will loosen it's grip on the fabric. I also think WD-40 can be used also to remove gum. Good luck.

Re: gum on pants

Thanks for the replies! I've tried the ice and got most of it off. There's a small bit left between the fibers. I was told to use goo-be-gone by an officemate. I used that to get tar off my car but is it safe for wool pants?

Try a small amount on an inconspicuous spot on your pants, ( maybe inside a pant leg?,) and see what happens. That was another idea I thought of after my first post on this topic, the use of GooGone OR WD-40.

I used it on carpet once. Worked awesome. I think it was "sticker-lifter" or something like that though. Same thing really.

Re: gum on pants

I got gum stuck on my shirt one time.. tried the ice method but it was taking way too long... took the compressed air in a can (for cleaning electrical things) turned it upside down..sprayed the gum and froze rock hard instaltly. Peeled the gum off and did it again to get the excess off

good luck
