Rear Axle Trash 2003 Rubicon
REAR LOCKER LOCKED,,,TOOK TO DEALER,,THEY SAID i OVER TIGHTENED THE CHECK PLUG & DESTROYED THE TRI-LOCK PUMP BY THE PLUG EXTENDING IN TOO FAR. I WOULD IMAGINE THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A SPECIAL PLUG & INSPECTION PLATE FOR THE LOCKING DIFF SO THIS COULDN'T HAPPEN--PLUG & INSPECTION PLATE ARE SAME PART NUMBER AS NON-LOCKING DIFFS--PLEASE HELP ME FIND SOMETHING TO AVOID A $1700 REPAIR THAT SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HAPPEN OR AT LEAST NOT BE MY FAULT,BUT RATHER A DESIGN FLAW.

Huh? What did you do to it? Were you playing with it?

http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...splay.php?f=50 and ask this question. I know several people on there that are very knowledgable about the Rubicon lockers and a few have had warranty issues as well. Someone will be able to tell you how to fix it for much less than $1700 or at least tell you if the dealer is blowing smoke. If you go to Jeepsunlimited and do a search for "Rubicon drain plug" you will see a small reference to your problem. It was suggested that if you back the plug off or grind the magnet down, the problem will go away. |
