Fuel Pump making hissing noise

Fuel pump is making loud noise in the back of our 99 Suburban. Is this normal or is it about to go out?
Thanks,
Ron

Welcome to AF. Yes a failure may be imminent, although they can be somewhat noisey. A clogged fuel filter can also cause the pump to be noisier than normal.

Re: Fuel Pump making hissing noise

Our '99 with 40K miles has whined since the day it left the dealership. I am assuming you are talking about a constant whine, not a changing pitch noise of some sort.. Either way, if you haven't done a fuel filter change, do so.. Pat
